Tennis Season Begins

Tennis Season Begins

Carter Ray, Reporter

The middle school tennis season started Monday, April 5 with practice Monday-Thursday, 3:45-5:15 and on Fridays 2:15 to 3:45 with the exceptions on when it snows. Nathaniel Pryor said  he is doing tennis because he finds it fun, and he has no prior experience. The head coach is Jason Quigley with Taylor Boogerd as the assistant coach.

Tennis games are played best of three sets. To win a set one must win at least 6 games. The games start off at ¨love¨ (or zero), and you must get to 40 but that’s just 4 points. After love you go to 15 then 30 then to 40 final points is called game point and whoever wins game point is the winner of the game. Zach Schwab said that the scoring can be confusing at first but once you get used to it it’s fine.

Middle school students will have 3 meets against Powell and one intersquad tournament. Assistant coach Taylor Boogerd is excited for this season. He has some kids with a good amount of experience and the new kids have potential and are eager to learn.

Attached is the roster:
