Testing Time

Cody Middle School students will, once again, be doing the standardized testing, WY-TOP. In WY-TOP, there are tests in math, science, reading, and writing. This test is used to measure growth, achievement, and equity. It also allows teachers a view into what students may need help with or excel at. It also helps schools see how ready the students are for the new subjects coming in higher grades.

7th grader Tia Rodriguez says “ I feel WY-TOP is important to see if kids need more help with things and what they are proficient at. The GATE teacher Mrs.Class feels that “While WY-TOP is an important standardized test to see how students in our district are performing in the state, teachers and students spend over 2 hours for 2 to 3 days testing.  It can be a tedious process, but students and teachers do their best to demonstrate their learning throughout the year.”  “WY-TOP is an OK test, I do think that it is important and they do give us enough time to take the test,” 8th grader Addison Duncan says. Students will be taking these tests from April 27-29.
