SIP update

Mr. Pat Nieters, SIP Advisor

Student Investment Project (SIP) Update: 3/30/2020
Most of you are aware of the recent events that have stunted the nation with the rapid disease cases of COVID-19. With illnesses to closures of restaurants, office buildings, parent job losses and schools, comes uncertain times. Another uncertainty that you may not be aware of is how your stock account is doing. Nationally, the stock market is down about 1/3 which certainly has a huge impact on our economy. While some stocks are plummeting, others are riding this storm out in some respectable manner. If there is some good news to all this, two of the three classes at CMS have not invested any money at this point so you have no losses in your portfolio. Here is how your SIP account looks from about one month ago.
SIP2024 (8th) = Down about $500 to a current balance of $3,884.35 as of 3/30/2020.
SIP2025 (7th) = Have not invested yet. $0 loss
SIP2026 (6th) = Have not invested yet. $0 loss
At some point, the SIP class will start putting uninvested money to work. Exactly when that will be remains unknown at this time.
