A letter from Mr. Hartman

A letter from Mr. Hartman

Jeff Hartman, Guest Writer, Vamp teacher

Hello CMS Students!

First and foremost, I wanted to take a moment to address something, so let’s get right to it: you have no idea how much you are missed.  I’m going to do my admittedly insufficient but well-intentioned best to describe this in detail.  As you read, please keep in mind that I don’t mean “you all.” I mean ________________ : the student reading this.

We miss your energy!  Whew.  If there’s one thing that I’ve been able to process during this time, is this extreme lack, almost to the point where now I feel like some kind of “energy vampire.”  Your enthusiasm and spirit fuels us.  You fuel us to look for new ways to harness that energy into something engaging.   Sometimes this energy is “challenging” but that keeps us on our toes and makes us better teachers every day (at least in reasonable amounts).  You revitalize our spirits & you inspire us.

We miss seeing your determination!   We miss seeing your ideas, efforts, and creativity come together in our classrooms, right in front of us.  We miss being present in the moment to help however we can. We miss seeing how each of you approach problems in your own way, occasionally coming up with ideas and avenues of thought that we’ve not seen.  We miss challenging you to step up to difficult tasks with enthusiasm and grit.  We miss you as a person – as an indispensable collaborator in our classroom.

We miss youFrom your smile to your frustrated groans to your infectious laughter and to all those infinite bits and pieces that make you who you are, please take this as one teacher’s poor but hopefully not too cringe-worthy attempt to express how important you are to each one of us.

Sincerely,

Mr. “Spirit-Vampire” Hartman
