People predict that wild koalas will be extinct after the Australian fires. “At least 28 people have died nationwide, and in the state of New South Wales (NSW) alone, more than 3,000 homes have been destroyed or damaged,” states CNN. It is supposedly the worst wildfire in decades, and the smoke has put the “air quality 11 times the ‘hazardous” levels,” says CNN. It is not predicted to stop any time soon but the fires have gone down. The fires are burning all across Australia; the worst of the fires are in South Wales.

Recently our school put on a fundraiser for the fires. On January 16th, our school had a hat day to raise money for Australia. How do you feel about the fires? Riley Simone responds, “I feel bad for them because they live on an island and their island is burning up and they have nowhere to go” Ryan Decker was asked what he would do if he was in Australia right now, and he replied “I would be depressed”.
