Resolve Yourself

Molly Hays, News

December is here and New Years isn’t that far away. When a new year starts, many people will set a goal for themselves that they want to accomplish in that year. New Year resolutions are very popular and many people make them.

New Year’s resolutions are said to have started by the Babylonians some 4,000 years ago. The Babylonians would promise their gods to repay any debts, and return any objects that they had borrowed. These promises are believed to be the forerunners for New Year resolutions. New Year resolutions in ancient times were mostly religious based, but today there are a variety of goals.

Students at CMS also make resolutions. For example, a seventh grade student, Randall Nielson, has made a resolution to eat healthier. “ I also want to be kind to people and just become a better person.” Randall also says.  Kelsey Pomajzl also has a New Year’s resolution. “I want to be on the cover of Vogue magazine,” says Kelsey. What is your New Year’s resolution?
