“I don’t speak broke”

Many students at CMS don’t know this, but Airpods (or Bluetooth) are banned. The CMS handbook says that a student must leave their headset in their locker during classes. Wireless headphones are banned at our school because kids can sneak them in class. AirPods were introduced on September 7, 2016, with the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2. Apple originally planned to release the AirPods in late October, but the company delayed the release date. On December 13, 2016, Apple released the AirPods to be ordered online. Airpods, with charging case, cost $159, Airpods with wireless charging case cost $199, and the charging case cost $79. You can buy off-brand Airpods for much cheaper. Airpods can use Siri and they will turn off if it’s not in your ear.

Some CMS students shared why they still use Airpods. Most are using them for music. Others have used them for eavesdropping.  Finally, they use them to flex, for those of you over 20, that means bragging rights. Administration was unavailable for comment as using Airpods means your phone is somewhere near you.
